Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia and Corporate Travel World Asia Pacific is the leading International MICE event in the region for industry players and professionals.

 

This year, the 28th IT&CMA and the 23rd CTW APAC edition are shifting to online for the first time and the virtual event is happening from 16 to 20 November 2020.

 

Five full business days from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the virtual event feature a 24/7 Virtual Exhibition, Brand Showcase Presentations, Walk-In Meets and adding new activities and opportunities such as Buyer Procurement Showcase and Mini Destination / Brand Roadshows.

 

Attractive program hosted by the most important organizations like ICCA, IAPCO, SITE, PCMA, IMEX Group and more. 

 

Organized by TTG Events, IT&CMA is well positioned as the global event with the largest exhibition showcase of Asia-Pacific MICE suppliers and both events have been co-locating since 2004.

 

The dates for next year event are announced from 28-30 September 2021 at Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, Bangkok, Thailand.

From October 26^th to 30^th, the first virtual edition of MICECON gathered hundreds of professional, stakeholders and tourism practitioners in the country and around the world with its virtual event. Organized by The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).

 

With 1,321 attendees registered on the online platform, MICECON recorded its highest attendance this year. Delegates took advantage of this platform to create new connections, learn from the virtual sessions, booked appointments with clients and exhibitors, explore new business opportunities and of course the program would not be complete without the daily activities like the photo contest and leaderboard contest.

 

This year’s event features a diverse range of exhibitors including Associations and Organizations, Hotels and Resorts, Media Partners, Online Services, Travel and Tour Corporations.

 

The official opening ceremony by Tourism Promotions Board Chief Operating Officer, Atty. Maria Anthonette C. Velasco and Mr. Nigel David, Regional Director for Asia Pacific and Middle East of World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

 

WTTC reaffirmed its commitment with the MICE sector in the Philippines and informed great news for the industry, WTTC will host a Global Summit in Manila in 2021.

 

Keynote message from Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo – Puyat, who shared the updates and achievements for the industry during this pandemic and future projects to kick back the sector.

More than 30 local and international distinguish speakers delivered great content, engage the audience with inspirational conferences and interact with the delegates.

 

Just to mention a few session “Marketing in the COVID-19 Recession”, “How to Sell During a Crisis”, “Innovation in a Crisis – Think Big, Act Small, Move Fast!”, “Coping with the Pandemic Together”, “On Virtual and Hybrid Meeting Design”, “How to Green a Hybrid Event and How to Make It Sustainable”, “How to Win Domestic Events” and many more…

 

One of the most interesting sessions were the MICE RoadMap 101. From Tuesday to Thursday covered Meetings and Conventions, Incentive Travel and Exhibitions. Around 120 participants join the meetings via zoom, polls were conducted to obtain feedback and new initiatives were proposed.

 

The Panel “Opportunities in the New Ways of Meetings, Virtual and Hybrid Exhibitions and Events” powered by PACEOS where the Leaders of the Industry shared their experiences during this pandemic and how they have shifted from Face-to-Face events to online platforms, event technology tips, ideas and strategies.

 

C-Suite Session (Key Learnings in 2020: Steering through Rough Waters) by Mr. Gary Grimmer, Executive Chairman of Gaining Edge. The session was by invitation only and around 50 pax were able to enjoy this productive meeting.

 

Closing with an amazing session “Possible Thinking” by Jessica Cox motivational speaker. She is the world’s first licensed armless pilot and the first armless black-belt in the American Taekwondo Association. She remind us that we can do anything if only we believe our capacity is limitless.

 

MICECON is the most awaited event for the MICE Industry in the Philippines and  we were glad to see all our friends and partners virtually, make new online connections and get inspired and motivated.

KME is the largest MICE expo in Korea and it will be held at Songdo ConvensiA, Incheon, South Korea fromNovember 24-27.

 

Hosted by the Korean Tourism Organization and Incheon Tourism Organization, expecting 300 exhibitors and 300 local and international buyers, the 21^st Expo will have a hybrid format giving the facility to attend online and face-to- face.

Songdo Convensia Convention Center has 22 meeting rooms, accommodates 900 booths and the Total Exhibit Space is 17,021 sq. m.

This month is the 1st annual World MICE Awards hosted at the Park Hyatt Dubai on October 27^th. The Gala Ceremony Awards aims to drive up standards within the MICE industry by rewarding the organizations that are leaders in their field.

 

Business leaders and companies in the Philippines are nominated with three of the six categories including Best Convention Centre, Best MICE Hotel and Best MICE Organizer.

 

The World MICE Awards is the sister event of World Travel Awards, WTA serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Great news for The Philippines as the Department Of Tourism (DOT) has achieved the #SafeTravels stamp granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and becoming the 100th destination in implementing the global protocols to restore confidence to travelers and reinforce the sector.

 

With this stamp, it will be easier for travelers and tourism stakeholders to identify those destinations and companies that are complying and have implemented the health and hygiene protocols providing consistency to ensure the safety of travelers.

 

Qualified companies including airlines and airports, attractions, car rentals, cruise lines, hotels, outdoor shopping, short term rentals, restaurants, tour operators and transportation that will use the stamp as sign of the commitment to offer the best standards of hygiene and sanitation for the visitors.

 

It is important to highlight that this stamp will gradually help the economic recovery of the tourism industry, increasing the demand of destinations and generate jobs and  opportunities within the Philippines.

Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) will host the Global Recovery Forum, one day event having a hybrid format available online and face-to-face on 10^th November and it will be held at the ICC Sydney the Australia’s first fully-integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment venue. 

 

The four hour education program includes case studies, workshops, training and discussions giving the opportunity to event professionals in the Asia-Pacific Region to learn, acquire new skills and adapt to the new market. The Forum aim to support the events industry and help to drive new business value to recover with the latest updates.

 

PCMA is a professional organization and the largest platform for business events strategists, with more than 7,000 members with 17 chapters in 30 countries. PCMA APAC has a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand, South-East Asia and North Asia.

The Philippines became one of the first international meeting destination in Southeast Asia when the country surprised the world by being the first to build an international convention center.

 

The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) is located in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Metro Manila. PICC was inaugurated on September 5th in 1976 hosting the International Monetary Fund Meeting  (IMF-World Bank Meeting) with 4,650 delegates.

 

The world-class and iconic building is more than a convention center due to its brutalist architecture designed by the National Artist for Architecture Leandro V. Locsin. It took two years to build, $65 million to make it a reality and consists of five building modules to translate it into 70,000 square meter of floor space.

 

Just to mention a couple of events held in PICC

• Concerts of international artist like Luciano Pavarotti in 1994, Il Divo 2007, Janet Jackson 2011 and the Filipino artist and singer Lea Salonga celebrate her 40th Anniversary in 2018.

The Live Events Industry has never been so well united in the Philippines. 1st September will be remembered for the night where event venues, outdoor spaces, iconic buildings and landmarks shined red to support the campaign “Light it up in Red” by the National Live Events Coalition PH.

 

Our industry is facing uncertainty and experience a drastic hit, but the history has shown us how resilient the Events Industry truly is. We adapt and learn from the actual challenges and as many other circumstances we have been through in the past, we will bounce back stronger than ever.
