Red Alert Philippines Events Industry

“Light up in Red” for the Events Industry in The Philippines

At risk of collapse, the events industry was the first to close down and it will most likely be one of the last industries to return back to business.

During the last couple of weeks, we have seen campaigns across Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and the UK in support of the Live Events Industry where many event venues, outdoor spaces, theaters, arenas, iconic buildings and landmarks were turned red to shine a light on the crisis during the pandemic. US is planning to light red hundreds of building on 1 September, to call for urgent government assistance.

In order to raise awareness in the Philippines, the National Live Events Coalition PH encourage to join the campaign “Light up in Red” on 1st September between 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in support for all live event professionals, production companies, technicians, freelancers, performers, musicians, entertainers, venues, art institutions and third parties involved in our industry.

M&SE join in solidarity to show our commitment to this amazing industry. Events bring people together and if you work in the events industry you can be part of this significant action because you know that events matter.

IATA Philippines

IATA Standards for Airline Operators

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) presented the IATA Health Safety Standards Checklist for Airline Operators complying with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) providing the standards and recommended practices during the pandemic.

The sections cover pre-arrival notification, check in, embarkation and disembarkation, aircraft cleaning, onboard air quality, in-flight operations, flight and cabin crew – general, crew layover and airport facilities.

The standards from IATA are available here.

Excellent work from this two organizations considering that the travel bubbles will allow tourists to fly directly to hotspots locally and this will help reactivate the Tourism.

IATA celebrated its 75 years last April. IATA was founded on 1945 in Havana, Cuba. Today IATA has 290 members from 120 nations around the globe.

Empty Event

The Empty Event

Great things happen when people come together and the message that the Live Events Coalition want to prove with the Empty Event is clear. The COVID-19 impact on the Events Industry is catastrophic.

The Empty Event illustrates the impact of the current situation in our industry. The first Empty Event took place on the Times Square New York  and the second on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

48 tables with signs facing an empty stage, each table representing 250,000 of the 12 million event industry workers affected. Involving all the players of the live events industry including event planners, venues, caterers, suppliers and more.

Here some facts that are terrifying:

“It took 100 unpaid live event professionals to make The Empty Event possible. But there are 12 million more without work right now.”

“Live Events workers spend average of 20 years in the industry. COVID-19 ended their careers in a month”

“With 90% event cancellations from March until the end of the year, the live events industry was the first to shut down and will likely be the last to open.”

The Live Event Coalition was created in response to the pandemic last March by industry leaders.
